Teamsters Local 754 Negotiates Dean's Contract Extension
More Than 500 Dairy Industry Teamsters Receive Pay Raise
November 18, 2014 -- Teamsters Local 754, Illinois’ leading local union for dairy workers, secured a one-year contract extension this month for more than 500 employees of Dean Foods.
Dean’s, which makes and distributes a wide variety of milk and other dairy products, is home to hardworking Teamsters at five production facilities across northern Illinois. The contract extension guaranteed an immediate 45-cent raise for all Local 754 members, regardless of job classification.
“The Teamsters represent dairy workers throughout the industry — from men and women who pasteurize to those working the assembly line and driving the delivery trucks,” said Orlando Fuller, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 754. “We’re proud to work with Dean’s on this contract extension and to begin preparing now for future negotiations to keep our members protected and appreciated where they work.”
Dean’s represents Local 754’s largest employer. Teamster members are working now on the company’s farms and in its warehouses in Franklin Park, Huntley, Chemung, Belvidere and Rockford. In addition to milk delivery, Teamsters are involved in the production and packaging of yogurt, ice cream, buttermilk, sour cream, eggnog and other popular Dean Foods products.
All other contract language, benefits and provisions will be maintained for workers under the current agreement.
